REACH (Registration Evaluation and Authorization of Chemicals) is the acronym with which reference is made to the Regulation 1907/2006 of the EU which through suitable instruments regulates the production and import into the European Community of chemical products, ensuring a higher standard of protection for human health and the environment.

REACH Regulation provides that from 1 June 2018 all substances produced or imported in quantities exceeding 1 t / year are registered and subjected to the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization process.

In its application, REACH provides for some exemptions from Registration, such as for food, feed, pharmaceutical and biocide products, as they are already regulated by other regulations; in other cases it provides for simplified procedures (for example for synthesis intermediates).
